An industry leader in developing and producing alternative fuels from biomass, industrial by-products, and coal.
An excellent partner for outsourcing contract operations — a risk-free solution to get state-of-the-art technology and process expertise without any capital investment.
We value our employees and invest in their success. We encourage them to learn new skills, stay current on the latest technologies, and explore new opportunities for our company. For this reason, our employees — 15% minority — are more skilled and productive than can be found in other companies. In the words of another process innovator, our approach is “Quality in all we are and all we do” (Adolph Coors).
- Formed in 1989 by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the not-for-profit R&D arm of the electric utility industry.
- Originally, CQ’s revenues came primarily from contract research for EPRI, U.S. utilities, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
- In 1994, CQ Inc. employees bought out 80% of EPRI’s interests in the company. In 1998, CQ Inc. employees purchased the remaining 20% of the company becoming a closely held private corporation 100% owned by CQ Inc. directors, officers, and employees.
- Expanded beyond contract R&D to operation and maintenance of coal cleaning and synthetic fuel plants as well as ownership and operation of commercial ventures such as finishing of raw wood flooring and production of wood pellets for home heating.
